JSYK had a great time at the AllyKatzz.com Tween Summit this weekend, but we have a feeling our five tween reporters had an even better time.OMG! It was so fun! You should have been there when we talked to Debby Ryan. She's the sweetest and she's really just like us! Brooke White was awesome. She talked to us about reaching our dreams. Oh, and I met WOW and asked them what their biggest accomplishment was. They said, "Being interviewed by you!!!!!" :) Then they stole my sparkly hat because it matched their sparkly shoes. They gave it back, of course, but not before my mom snapped a pic!
What was your favorite part of the day?
Meeting the celebs and finding out about what they like to do."
Did you make any new friends at the Summit?
Yes. Ali, Kiley, Katie and Claire are now like best friends since we spent the day reporting for JSYK!
What did you learn?
Celebs are just like us.
Today was totally awesome! We got to meet so many people from different points of life. We started the day with a large pep rally where we were seated with who would be my new friends. After the rally we went though a lot of really workshops. I got to learn and speak about what matters to me! Throughout the day we also got to go and visit some really cool sponsors and got some wicked awesome stuff! EA Games was awesome!! There are some cool games for girls coming. After all that I got to meet people and talk to them for JSYK about things that mattered to me. Today was a great day!
What was your favorite part of the day?
Interviewing and meeting all the celebrities. Debby Ryan was our age and related to us. She was easy to talk to. Jessica Mendoza was down to earth and made it easy to talk about our issues. She gave us ways to deal with problems.
Did you make any new friends at the Summit?
Yes - all the girls in my group were very nice and friendly."
What did you learn?
Believe in your inner beauty, not just your outer!
"Hey! Today was an interesting day in D.C. I went to the 2009 Tween Summit. There were a bunch of guest speakers ranging from professional athletes to the Vice President of Nickelodeon's The N. My favorite speaker though was Jessica Mendoza. She talked to us about standing out and being different, finding things that you love about yourself and setting goals every day. Jessica really stood out to me today. There were over 400 girls today at the Summit from all over the country. All of them were really sweet and had a lot of great opinions. We all voiced our ideas about how we can impact the world. Overall, I thought today was really cool and I learned and was inspired by a lot."
What was your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part of the Summit was listening to all of the speakers and the really good key points they had."
Did you make any new friends at the Summit?
I became friends with the other JSYK reporters, Avery, Ali, Katie and Kiley.
What did you learn?
I learned and heard a lot today at the Summit. During Alyse Nelson's talk, we learned about how women can do anything and you can do whatever you want to. During the bullying talk, we heard about the different types of bullying and how instead of feeling nervous about something, you should be excited. Jessica Mendoza stated "Love it. Like it. Dream it." as her motto and told us to not fit in, but stand out.
The best things were meeting new people and making new friends (Debby Ryan, WOW, Brooke White!) :) I really liked being a reporter because I really want to be a journalist when I grow up! This was a great day! One I never will forget.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Meeting celebs and new people.
Did you make any new friends at the Summit?
Yes, totally. Great friends from the JSYK team.
What did you learn?
Tell your parents everything!
The Tween Summit was an awesome experience. My experience in particular was an especially unique one. As an AllyKatzz.com Advisory Board member, I was interviewed by press. Then, as a Just So You Know tween reporter, I got to interview Debby Ryan, Comic Book Heroes, WOW and Brooke White. I had a few minutes where I checked out the exhibit hall which is where all the sponsors and authors supporting the Summit had booths set up. I also got to hear some speakers like Jess Weiner. I met a ton of great people, including celebrities and loved the ending concert. Tweens have a voice! xoxo
What was your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part of the Summit was when girls talked and adults listened. Jess Weiner went around asking girls to represent their table and answer the question they were given, from health to boys, the panel of adults like a VP from Teen Nick listened.
Did you make any new friends at the Summit?
I met all my fellow AllyKatzz.com advisory board girls who came: Jade, Caitlin and Pheobe. I also became fast friends with the other JSYK.com tween reporters: Claire, Ali, Katie and Avery.
What did you learn?
I learned from my day of activities that tween girls have a bigger voice than we realize. If we come together and care about each other and making a positive change, then we can change the world!
