Nick Jonas Opens Up to Teen Vogue About 'Who I Am'

Nick Jonas and the Administration are celebrating their record release day today and the Jonas Brother could not be more stoked. "The record is out!" he tweeted. "I am so excited! Please go check it out!"

That's not all Nick has to say about his solo record, 'Who I Am.' The singer-songwriter reveals to Teen Vogue that the music came naturally to him, and he's been waiting to debut these tracks for a long time.

"Songs were pouring out of me," Nick says in the March issue of the magazine. "I've been wanting to do this for three years."

As for the title track, it doesn't take too much deep thought to figure out what inspired Nick. "It's about how I want someone to love me for my passion for music," he says. "It's all I've ever thought about."

'Who I Am' is available in stores and on iTunes today. Want to preview the album before you buy it? Check out our full CD listening party of Nick Jonas' new record here.

Listen to Nick Jonas and the Administration's New Album Now!

The wait is over. Nick Jonas and the Administration's new album, 'Who I Am,' is set to hit shelves tomorrow, but you can listen to the entire CD right here, right now. Sorry, the listening period has ended.

Armed with material he wrote over the course of three years, Nick recorded his solo record at Nashville's Blackbird Studios. The songs just weren't quite right for the Jonas Brothers, but they were perfect for side project.

Unless you've had the privilege of seeing Nick and his band perform live on their month-long tour in January, most people haven't heard much from 'Who I Am' beyond the debut single of the same name. Well, now you and your friends can memorize all the lyrics to the ten bluesy rock tracks below!

Nick Jonas and the Administration's album is available in stores and on iTunes February 2.

Nick Jonas is The Man in VMAN Magazine

Nick Jonas is featured on the cover of the latest issue of VMAN Magazine looking super slick! In the cover story, the 17-year-old opens up to the mag about his solo career and exactly who has inspired him over the years.

"My real musical discovery started when I was 10 with Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5, and acts that I connected with because they were young when they were doing it, like me," says Nick. "Then I kind of came into my own a couple of years later, I found new artists that shaped my musical landscape. For instance, Kings of Leon played a big part in that."

Nick goes on to talk about the influence his family has had on him (yep, that means Kevin and Joe, and even his dad!), as well as the role his faith has had in his life.

"Every kid at one point or another looks up to his dad. I knew for a long time that I wanted to do something big, and for a long time I thought it was gonna be to take over preaching from my dad," he says. "You wanna feel like what you are doing is important. For that reason, when we go onstage, we pour our hearts out."

New Video: Nick Jonas and the Administration, 'Who I Am'

Nick Jonas and the Administration have released a video for their first single, 'Who I Am.' The song is also the title track of the band's debut album.

In the black and white video, Nick and his band perform the song in a tricked-out studio while the camera switches to shots of people holding cardboard signs with one or two words that explain who they are.

Nick is also one of the featured sign-holders in the video, and we'll give you one guess what word he uses to describe himself. Here's a hint: it comes after 'Jonas'...

Demi Lovato Dissing Nick Jonas?

Nick Jonas' solo tour is in full swing now, but there's one close friend of his who still hasn't made it to a show yet.

Demi Lovato was supposed to be at Nick's very first Nick Jonas & The Administration concert in Dallas on January 2. But that night she tweeted, "So bummed I couldn't make it to nick's show tonight.. :( @nickjonas is killing it I'm sure!!

Was she purposely ditching Nick? Nah, Demi was just feeling sick.

Nick tells MTV News, "I think [Demi]'s going to try and come out to the L.A. show. She wrote and was like, 'So sorry, can't make it.' She was feeling under the weather."

Nick probably felt sad his Camp Rock: The Final Jam co-star wasn't able to cheer him on, but he says, "It's all good. I will see her again I'm sure. You can't help when you get sick."
