Nikki Yanofsky Is 'Jazz For A New Generation'
The singer, who's new album 'Nikki' hits stores on May 4th - keep reading for info on how to win a copy, seems like your average teen. But when she sings, Nikki's voice is reminiscent of such jazz greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
Of course, Nikki puts her own spin on everything she does. She even dedicates her rendition of the classic "At Last" to her dog – not a boyfriend. "I love him and he's there," Nikki said.
She's been described as a fusion of jazz and pop, but don't categorize this 16-year-old. "Good music is good music," she has said. "Although I'm going to be singing [jazz] for the rest of my life, I also intend to sing everything else."
HERE'S HOW TO WIN NIKKI'S ALBUM! Come here Friday May 7th at 3 PM EST and we'll post our giveaway number. The 13th caller (the number of songs on Nikki's album) will win.
Nikki's already earned two Juno Award nominations last year. And in January, her single "I Believe" was released and it went to be number one on the Canadian charts after it became the official song for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Nikki is the most wonderful, refreshing, natural, humble, young lady I've seen in many moons. Nikki you are the girl everyone wants as a daughter, niece, grand-daughter, or friend.
Your parents are to be congratulated. It is not easy to bring up a girl with so much
God given talent. You are blessed as I feel you are very grounded. At the same time you have a vivacity, and charm that is so endearing. You are everything I ever wanted to be. My mother thought I was making an exhibition of myself. Ce la vie!
Peggy Lee used to sing a song I would like to suggest you try. "Do I Love You"?
I am probably your oldest fan, but none the less a huge fan. God Bless You dear girl.
You are the stars shining on the Red Maple Leaf of Canada.
Sincerely, Barbara MacMahon-Firestone.
