Taylor Lautner Backs Out of Filming 'Max Steel'
In a virtual battle of Mattel vs. Hasbro, Hasbro has won. Taylor Lautner has backed out of the movie adaptation of Max Steel in order to focus on making the film version of Stretch Armstrong, reports New York Magazine. So what happened? The Twilight star did sign on to do both films, but according to New York Magazine, Taylor became convinced that Hasbro's track record of superhero movie adaptations was better than Mattel's.
The toy company has had a ton of success with Transformers and G.I. Joe, and future projects, such as Candy Land, Risk and Battleship, have already been backed by Hollywood heavyweights. Not much was left in favor for Mattel, which is what led to Taylor's decision.
Last week, Taylor reportedly pulled out of Northern Lights, although the rumor has yet to be confirmed. As for the ditching Max Steel, we think playing more than one superhero might have been blockbuster overload. We're all about seeing more of Taylor on the big screen, but this is a case of "less is more." Plus, with so many films on deck for the 18-year-old actor, he could probably stand to drop one for the sake of another. Stretch Armstrong is slated to be released in 2012
