You're character is still in the dark about the whole vampire thing...

He has no idea what's going on. I honestly thought my character would be aware sooner, but they're just drawing it out.

Do you think you'll find out soon?

I would assume pretty soon. I haven't read or been told anything specifically or definitely. But there have been a lot of things that have happened fast on the show.

Like your sister getting turned into a vampire. That was fast. Do you think more Mystic Falls residents will get vampire'd?

I would say definitely. Yes. With two vampires in town and one of them being a crazy and murderous, I would assume there are going to be a lot more vampires running around.

Last week on the show, Vicki died. That seemed pretty permanent...

Anythings possible. We are on a show with vampires. Someone coming back from the dead isn't that unrealistic. We saw her die, but did we really see her die?

I don't know. I thought we did.

I thought we did too. I still think we did. But you never know.

Did you audition for any other parts on the show?

When I first went in, I read for Damon actually, funny enough. It was a mix up. I think I read for Stefan too, but it ended up coming down to Matt.

You were instantly the "ex-boyfriend." Were you bummed you didn't get any kissing scenes with Nina Dobrev?

You know, there would be no complaints if I did have to have a romantic scene.

[Zach stops to ask someone for directions]

Wait, are you driving?

[Laughs] Yeah, I am actually. Anyway, I would love to have a romantic interest on the show because all the girls on our show are obviously beautiful. But that's not the most exciting you can do on a show, you know?

Is it true when you were younger your family's business was making gravestones?

Yeah, it still is. When I was a kid I was always into anything scary, anything to do with ghosts. And witches. Witches really fascinated me. I still believe in ghosts I would say.

Have you read the Twilight books?

I have not read the books. All my girl cousins have. I've seen the movie. It's not something that I would go to for enjoyment really. I mostly just went to see it because I read the script back when it was being cast. But I'm sure New Moon is going to be excellent.
