Rachelle Lefevre Is Moving On

She's in Rome filming Barney's Version and Rachelle Lefevre couldn't be happier.

Just days after the Eclipse scandal, where Rachelle was booted from the third Twilight film after playing Victoria in both Twilight and New Moon, the red-headed beauty who made Victoria was already tweeting about her Rome trip, leaving all the Hollywood drama behind and heading for greener, Italian pastures:

"On my way to Rome to shoot Barney's Version. Really looking forward to being in beautiful Italy and exploring the magical Rome! Ciao"

In the statement heard 'round the world on July 28th, Rachelle was promptly fired from the film series after Summit Entertainment learned she had signed on to do Barney's Version during the same time she would be needed in Vancouver on set for Eclipse. Without a moment to waste, it was Rachelle out, Bryce Dallas Howard in.

Rachelle released her own statement almost immediately saying she was "greatly saddened" not to be able to "complete my portrayal of Victoria for the 'Twilight' audience." She also wished "the cast and crew of 'Eclipse' only the very best."

End of story? Not a chance. Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke, recently had a bit more to say on the subject when she spoke up at the Teen Choice Awards. Like, when she dropped this bombshell:

Twilight producers had originally asked Bryce Dallas Howard to be Victoria, you know, before they'd asked Rachelle. "I know we originally asked BDH (Bryce Dallas Howard) to do the first movie," Hardwicke told the San Francisco Chronicle, "but she thought it was too small a part at that time." OMG!

Anyway, Rachelle has obviously moved on – deep into her new role as Clara in this non-vampire, non-teen movie she's making in Rome. And her die-hard Twilight fans? Many are disappointed, others are downright depressed! At a Twilight Convention in Dallas earlier this month, they expressed outrage at Summit Entertainment for letting their "favorite" vampire go. Quite a few mentioned how weird it was going to be to watch New Moon this Fall, too, knowing Eclipse was next and that it would not be the same actress playing Victoria. Still others talked of starting a movement to bring Rachelle back.

Sorry, kids. But it ain't gonna happen. Bryce is already cozying up to Rob, Kristen, Taylor et al, over in Vancouver as we speak...

And the rest of the "Twilight"ers apparently feel the same way. They miss their good friend Rachelle, but, as actor Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen) told MTV.com: "The show must go on. We're going to embrace Bryce Dallas Howard - and I hope that the fans do, too." Jackson Rathbone ( vampire Jasper Hale) said, "I would love to work with Rachelle again. I'm really sad that I'm not going to get to work with her on the final film of the franchise we started together."
